Bliss

An electronic duo from Amsterdam who made two EPs, a remix, and the 2023 debut album “Keys”.

We were an electronic band

Fort Bliss was an electronic band from Amsterdam, with its origins exactly between the Noord and Nieuw-West districts of the city, where Auke (of the xylophone, analog synthesizers and drum computers) and Andreas (of the violin and piano) lived. Somewhere in the middle they built a musical landscape as diverse and inspiring as the city itself.

Auke (ex Human Alert, Frostparade and more) and Andreas (ex Novack and audiotransparent) each brought more than twenty years of experience producing, performing and recording music when they decided to join forces. The collaboration began with an exchange of beats and melodies, recorded in their own home studios, and grew into two EPs and a remix.

During the lockdowns, when the world came to a standstill, Fort Bliss found a way to continue their musical journey. They worked on the debut album at home with great dedication and passion, the empty, dark streets of the city and the majestic towers that adorn Amsterdam serving as their main sources of inspiration.

Hendrick de Keyser, the renowned architect who enriched Amsterdam with its iconic church towers, played a crucial role in shaping the band's musical vision. Each of the eleven tracks on the album “Keys” was inspired by one of these towers, the atmosphere and appearance of each tower transformed into an instrumental work that carried the listener on a sonic journey through the city.

On 31 October 2023 the debut album “Keys” saw the light of day: a listening experience of synths and violins colliding across eleven instrumental tracks, blending influences from leftfield electronica to hip-hop, indie and cinematic soundtracks.

From North to New West, from lockdowns to high towers, Fort Bliss left behind a concept work that reflected the soul of the city.
